1910 Nice meeting pages added!

Hi everybody, It's been a long while since the latest update, but it's because this is a big one. At almost 9,500 words it's the longest "events" text on the site and all in all there are 60 images. There was lots of material to go through. The eminent on-line archive services of the "...

The first anniversary!

On May 2nd it was exactly one year since the site was launched! Since then six more meetings have been added and three meetings have been thoroughly revised. There are almost fifty meetings left to cover during 1910, so there's a lot to look forward to. And then there are the pilot pages... The next...

1909 Brescia pages updated!

I've made a major update of the pages about the September 1909 Brescia "Circuito Aereo Internazionale". Almost twice as much text, almost twice as many photos, some photos rescanned and some additional references - you'll find the pages here!

1910 Sevilla Meeting pages launched!

This was a quite insignificant meeting and I don't think it's ever been covered in English before. The big stars were Belgians Jan Olieslagers and Jules Tyck on their Blériots, but nothing remarkable whatsoever was achieved and none of the major European aviation magazines spent even 100 words on it...

ID of photo of "1910 LA meeting Gill-Dosh" found!

This photo of the Eaton-Twining monoplane http://www.thefirstairraces.net/meetings/la1001/images/eatontwining345.jpg appears in two books about the 1910 Los Angeles meeting and a modern postcard as the Gill-Dosh machine. It is obviously not, since the Gill-Dosh was a biplane Curtiss copy... Today I ...

1909 Spa pages updated!

After contacting the Spa "Musée de la Ville d'eaux" I got in contact with Marc Joseph, author of this book http://thefirstairraces.net/stuff/spavilledair.jpg about the aviation history of Spa. It contains a 28-page article about the 1909 Spa meeting, with lots of material from the contempo...

1910 Biarritz meeting pages updated!

The March-April 1910 Biarritz meeting was a minor meeting, which clashed with five other European meetings. A couple of planes crashed early and weather was bad, so there was not much flying. The most successful fliers were Alfred Leblanc and Jorge Chávez. I have tried to gather the little informati...
