New forum: Updates!

I decided to create a separate forum to keep track of the updates on the main website. Instead of editing and updating a single "latest updates" post I will create a new topic in that forum for every change. I hope this will be easier to follow and will encourage feedback.

Early air race programs online

Hi everybody, The French website meetingaeriens.blog4ever.com is a gold-mine, where you can access programs from the 1909-1910 meetings of Port-Aviation (23 May), Reims (1909 and 1910), Doncaster, Tours, Lyon, Rouen, Circuit de l'Est, Baie de Seine and Bourges. Have a look! Do you know of any other ...

Anti-spam policy

Due to the large amount of spam postings that forums like this attract we have had to take some measures: 1: If your IP address is listed on stopforumspam.com you are not allowed to register yourself. In that case you will get a message saying so when you try to register. If you think it is an error...

1910 Los Angeles/Dominguez Meet

Hi everybody, The next meeting to cover is the 1910 Los Angeles Meeting. This meeting was pretty well documented in the old aviation magazines and a couple of books have been written about it. However, there are still some gaps to fill: 1. I haven't seen any good photos showing the Gill-Dosh (or Gil...

Re: The 1909 Vichy meeting: Photos needed!

Having decided to after all include all the Vichy photos that I have, I also took the opportunity to go through the references one more time and revise all the Vichy pages, which were actually written a couple of years ago. Still missing good photos of most the planes, though...

Re: The 1909 Vichy meeting: Photos needed!

Thanks for posting the photo! As a matter of fact, I already had a postcard with that photo, but I wasn't sure it was from 1909, since I have seen photos of a Wright with a similar number claimed to be from the 1910 Vichy meeting. I also doubted that they would have used race numbers at a meeting wh...

Glenn Curtiss' 1909 Reims machine: Golden after all!

In his 1981 book "Curtiss - The Hammondsport Era 1907-1915" Louis S. Casey wrote that the "Rheims Flyer" was covered in grey silk, as opposed to the "golden" balloon cloth of the earlier "Golden Flyer". While revising the Brescia texts for the site I found evi...
